Movers in Newport Beach, From the Harbor Islands to Newport Center
Balboa Island keeps its early grid of small lots and narrow streets and alleys, so before moving day we find out how close the truck can stand to your door. Bayfront homes elsewhere, from the Peninsula, where the Newport Harbor Yacht Club sits, to Corona del Mar, home of the Balboa Yacht Club, get the same check of curb, door and carry.
Three kinds of jobs have pages of their own: piano moves in Newport Beach, office relocations here and long-distance moves from Newport Beach. Homes in Newport Coast, which is also part of the city, are covered on a separate page. As on every job, 1% of the revenue from Newport Beach moves goes to conservation projects.

What Newport Beach Movers Check Before Moving Day

What Newport Beach Movers Check Before Moving Day
Balboa Island: One Bridge, Tight Streets
What people call Balboa Island is really three islands: Balboa Island, Little Balboa Island and Collins Island. Vehicles get on over a short two-lane bridge on the northeast side, from Bayside Drive onto Marine Avenue. The other way over is the privately run Balboa Island Ferry from the Balboa Peninsula, but its three boats carry three cars each, so our truck comes in by the bridge.
Marine Avenue, the island's main street, is lined with shops, galleries and restaurants, and the rest of the island still follows its early grid of small lots and narrow streets and alleys. We ask whether your door opens onto a street or an alley and for a photo of the frontage, then choose a stop that keeps the carry short without blocking a neighbor's garage.
Condos, Small Buildings and Harbor Associations
Single-family homes, attached and detached, make up most of the city's housing. Condos, apartments and duplex-to-fourplex buildings are concentrated in the older beach neighborhoods, meaning West Newport, the Balboa Peninsula, Balboa Island and Corona del Mar, and in northern areas such as Bonita Canyon Village and Newport Center. A studio or one-bedroom usually takes two or three movers, and a home with three or more bedrooms four to six.
Associations and building managers in these neighborhoods set their own move rules. Ask them early:
- which days and hours moves may take place;
- whether an elevator or loading area has to be booked;
- whether they want a certificate of insurance from the mover.
We issue that certificate for $50 per building. If your association or the gate office has written access instructions for vendors, forward them with the date and we'll follow them. A piano on an upper floor gets its own plan, described on our page about moving a piano in Newport Beach.
Corona del Mar and the Coast Highway Blocks
Corona del Mar's village center lies a few blocks inland from the beach, with shops, boutiques and restaurants on both sides of Coast Highway. For a home on or just off that stretch, we set the truck's position with you ahead of time and lean toward an early start, before the shops and restaurants fill up.
On a quieter side street, the crew still walks the path from the curb to the door before the first piece comes out, checking steps, gates and tight turns. Floors, banisters and door frames along that path are padded first.
Routes North on the 55 and Along the Coast
State Route 55 begins on Newport Boulevard at Via Lido, just south of Coast Highway (SR-1), and runs north to the Riverside Freeway (SR-91) in Anaheim. For moves inland to Costa Mesa and other cities along that corridor, it is usually the first leg, while trips along the shore start on Coast Highway. We agree on the start time with you, so the drive misses the heaviest commute hours where possible.
As local movers in Newport Beach, we bill trips inside the city by the hour and price long-distance moves differently, as the next section explains. Moves to nearby cities in Orange County follow the same hourly model, with a 3-hour minimum, or 4 hours when the job is 30 or more miles from our service area. Rates for every crew size and day of the week are listed on our pricing page.
Leaving Newport Beach for Another State
A move out of state is not billed by the hour: it gets a binding estimate built on distance, weight and the services you pick, and our long-distance moving service delivers to all 50 states. What we check on loading day at a Newport Beach address, from the bridge or gate on the way in to the spot where the truck stands, is laid out on the page about moving out of state from Newport Beach.
