Beverly Hills Movers: Curb Signs, Hillside Streets and Truck Routes

Beverly Hills Movers: Curb Signs, Hillside Streets and Truck Routes
“No Parking” Signs and the Curb Outside Your Door
Under the City's moving-van rules, residential moves on the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard need no “No Parking” signs. Elsewhere, curb space for the truck is held with temporary signs sold at the City Hall cashier, 455 N. Rexford Drive, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the receipt number serves as the permit number.
Each address needs at least two signs, four or five for an 18-wheel truck or larger, and a sign is good for one day only. Signs go up at least 72 hours ahead on trees, meters or light poles in front of the address, readable from the first traffic lane and never nailed, tacked or stapled to a City tree; the Police Department is then notified. With the cashier closed on weekends, a Monday move needs its signs bought the week before.
A sign does not cancel red zones, disabled-parking spaces, loading zones or posted street-sweeping hours, and the sidewalk must stay open to pedestrians. We tell you how much curb our truck needs and which stretch to sign, and the crew keeps a clear walkway past the ramp for the whole job.
The Flats, the Hillside Area and Trousdale Estates
The City sorts single-family homes into three areas with separate building rules: the Central Area, the Hillside Area and Trousdale Estates. In the Flats, the fairly level ground between Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards, a truck can usually stop close to the door, while hillside streets take more planning.
On a Red Flag Day declared by the Beverly Hills Fire Department, street parking is not permitted on 16 marked streets, such as La Altura Road north of Doheny Road. The City says these streets are part of an evacuation route or too narrow for fire apparatus and resident traffic during a wildfire. The ban overrides permits, so if your street is listed, we agree on a backup date at booking.
Trousdale Estates has truck rules of its own. No vehicle of 50,400 lb gross or more may use its streets, and under a 2015 ordinance, heavy trucks bound for Trousdale construction sites need certification, a window decal and hauling approval, may haul only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and park no more than two per site on the street. We size the truck to the weight limit and time our arrival around any construction hauling on your street.
For homes of three bedrooms and up we send four to six movers, cover floors, doorways and stair rails before the first piece moves, and wrap and take apart furniture as needed. Art, antiques, sculptures and chandeliers go through our white glove service, with custom crates, condition photos and art hanging at the new house.
When 90210 Is Not the City of Beverly Hills
Before you compare Beverly Hills moving companies, check which city your address is in. The 90210 ZIP, used inside the city along with 90211 and 90212, also covers the Beverly Hills Post Office area, a City of Los Angeles neighborhood in the Santa Monica Mountains that reaches Mulholland Drive and takes in Benedict and Coldwater canyons. Homes there get Los Angeles city services, so the Beverly Hills sign and truck rules above do not apply.
Beverly Park is another case: the guard-gated community of North Beverly Park, with 64 homes and a main entrance at 13100 Mulholland Drive, and South Beverly Park, with 16, has 90210 addresses but lies in Los Angeles, like neighboring Bel Air. At any gated community, we ask the HOA or the gate about entry hours and truck limits when you book.
Condo boards and building managers set their own move rules, so ask about elevator booking, move hours and the insurance certificate they require. We issue a certificate of insurance (COI) at $50 per building, as listed on our pricing page.
Truck Routes, Traffic and Moves Out of State
Vehicles over 6,000 lb gross or wider than 8 ft 6 in must use the City's designated heavy-vehicle streets and, to reach an address off that network, cover as little other street as possible, unless getting onto that route would add more than two miles. A loaded moving truck is over that weight, so we plan the approach from the City's Approved Heavy Haul Street Map.
A City traffic study from the mid-2000s found Beverly Hills not well served for regional trips, especially north-south: La Cienega Boulevard was the only principal north-south arterial, and overloaded routes pushed traffic onto residential streets such as North Beverly Drive and North Canon Drive. Underground station work for Metro's D Line Section 2 is still under way in Beverly Hills and Century City. Between your two addresses, we keep to the heavy-vehicle streets rather than residential cut-throughs.
Moves within Los Angeles County are billed by the hour, while a long-distance move to another state gets a binding estimate built on distance, weight and the services you choose. Out-of-state trucks reach I-405 through the Wilshire and Santa Monica intersection, the city's western gateway, or I-10 by Robertson, La Cienega or San Vicente Boulevard, and the Sepulveda and Cahuenga passes north by way of Sunset Boulevard.
